Recently I went to Mumbai for attending an event on 17^th  of September. It was organised by Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) along with Digit Magazine (most popular IT Magazine in INDIA). The event was titled as “India Intelligence + Taiwan Technologies = IT for Excellent Lifestyles” and took place in Navi Mumbai, Vashi.  So with this article I want to share my overall experience of the whole event.

Taiwan Excellence, which represents innovative and technological image of Taiwan’s competitive industries, is a symbol of Innovation, Reliability, and Value. Such excellence is radiated in many of Taiwan’s niche industries, particularly the ICT industry, of which many have become renowned brands in their field. In 2011, Taiwan Excellence along with selected 35 Taiwan international brands expects to bring Excellent Lifestyles to consumer’s daily life.

The event started in the InOrbit Mall, Vashi with the announcement of the “IT Travellers Go! Malaika Arora Khan was also present for brand promotion. There was a registration desk of Digit and gifted Silicon Power pen drives to 40 early birds. All the Digit community members residing in Mumbai and Pune were invited for the event. Even invitations were mailed to across INDIA. Various products from various Taiwanese companies like Acer, Asus, MSI, D-Link etc. were on display. Digit editorial team members also interacted and guided about the various products and technologies. I was very glad to interact with the editorial team of Digit. It was a perfect destination for all the geeks and technocrats!

The next part of this event was held at Yogi Midtown Hotel in Vashi. It was an interactive session among Acer, BenQ, D-Link and MSI moderated by the Soham Raninga, Online Editor of Think Digit. It was followed by the question-answer session. All the attendees were able to interact with the brand representatives in the question-answer session. I also got a chance to interact with them. And finally the dinner was served and this grand event came to a happy ending.

Finally this whole event was a huge success and allowed everyone including myself to get in contact with the like-minded people and mingle with the great personalities who hold a great position in the evolving IT world.

Recently I went to a family trip on Himachal Pradesh, India. During the trip just to check my mails I plugged in my TATA Photon+ but the net connection was very slow which resulted in discovery of this method. This method is mainly applicable to the websites which are optimized for mobile phones or tablets but these days majority of the websites are optimized for mobile phone or handheld devices.

Mozilla Firefox Implementation

1. Install an add-on named User Agent Switcher. This add-on allows us to switch the user agent (user agent is the technical name of a browser).
2. Now download useragentswitcher.xml(Right click and save it). After that open the User Agent Switcher Options from the addons tab.
3. After that switch the user agent by Tools->Default User Agent->iPhone 3.0
4. Now open http://m.google.com/ instead of http://google.com  or any website of your choice.
5. Main idea is that accessing a website in mobile version reduces the loading time but allows us to access the desired content.
6. Most of the popular websites are having a mobile version but the problem is that accessing it directly from a browser doesn’t allow us to access the mobile version.

According to sources Android’s market share has reached a whooping 40% worldwide. Many users are switching to Android due to various features like huge amount of free applications, speed, user friendly user interface and many more. Samsung is trying its best to grab the Android market share by launching its phones in various price ranges.

The huge demand and competitive prices have led to the huge growth. Mainly Samsung, Motorola and HTC are the main key players in Android though many more companies are trying to make a name.

Recently I got some speed related issues on my Android phone due to which I want to share some techniques which can result in the speed up. Even the speed related issues were reported from others as well.

After a long time, I’m posting. It really feels very good since I’m back to blogging. Well I purchased a new smartphone from Sony Ericsson in November, 2010. It is XPERIA X8 previously rumored as Sony Ericsson Shakira(though its official name is Sony Ericsson E15i or Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8). Some of its remarkable features are Android OS(currently Android Eclair 2.1), WiFi, 3.0 inch HVGA capacitive touch screen, A-GPS, a 3.2 MP Camera, 600MHz processor, etc.

Well it has a numerous features so for the full review of this phone, check @ GSMArena.com. Since my main motive is to share my own personal experience with this phone. It priced me INR 13, 500/- (approx $280) & in this range I bet this is the best phone in Indian markets. Even this is far better than XPERIA X10 Mini, which has a very small screen of 2.55 inch along with other issues.

XPERIA X8 is now using Android Eclair, which makes it capable of running various application and provides a great user experience. This is really a true executive phone since it allows various functionalities like reading mails, updating social networking profile in a go and many more things. After that Sony Ericsson’s Timescape Application combines SMS’s, missed calls, Twitter Updates & Facebook Updates in a single place & hence gives us a great control. It is really an amazing application!

Android Market is a store of hundreds and thousands of applications. Most of them are available free of cost while some come with a nominal price. We can directly install applications from the market without connecting to our computer.

This phone can be customized a lot in terms of menu, wallpapers, applications, services, etc. The best feature of this phone is the speed, which makes it the best in its range. After using it for more than two months, I never faced any sluggishness or crash. It is only due to its Qualcomm MSM7227 600 MHz processor.

1. Quickoffice Pro - A suite provides a reader/editor for DOC, XLS, PPT & PDF documents.
2. TasKiller – Allows to close the running applications & hence save memory.
3. Swype HVGA – It is an advanced keyboard which simplifies the typing on a touchscreen.
4. GPS Test – Provides longitude, latitude & altitude from GPS Satellites.
5. PowerAMP – An advanced music player.
6. Aldiko Book Reader – Book reader.
7. CamCard – A business card reader.
8. SMS Backup+ – Backs up all the SMS’s to our GMail inbox.
9. Dolphin HD Browser – Advanced browser with many functions & addons.
10. Adobe Photoshop Express - Provides simple image editing & also provides an option to upload images to Photoshop Library
11. MapDroyd – Worldwide offline maps with GPS synchronization

Note: All the applications I’ve mentioned above are running on my phone without any issues.

This phone’s hardware capabilities are really good and with good applications, we can enhance our user experience to a new level. After summing up everything I can clearly say that if you have a limited budget & want to have a great Android experience then this is the best phone, anyone can have. This is a true executive phone due to its simple looks as well as the functionalities it offers.
